Adult Ballet
Dear Dance lovers of all ages, I have the luck to teach professional and amateur dancers from all ages. I must say teaching adult classes is some thing I enjoy very much. I will explain why!
If your already taking classes or want to begin. There are many reasons why one should take it up or continue doing classes. If your looking for a studio many studios will have specific course for adult ballet, so you can very easily ask for information. Or some studios will have beginner’s classes for all ages. Which is also a very good option.
Goals are very important elements so some one has something to strive for or measure ones self. I personally find it very important that one checks if they have some kind of final year performance or programs to measure and have a timeframes associated with tracking ones achievement.
About Goals
I encourage for adult dance students to writing down their goals before classes. There can be a number of things, one would like to achieve, better understanding of turnout, learn to balance on one leg, to execute a single pirouette or gain more flexibility the list could be endless! Or you can also talk to your ballet teacher. They will guild you or give you some ideas. This way they will also help you stick to your personal goals and keep focused. The main element for learning classical ballet is consistency, most teachers will help you keep on track.
There are many reasons why one has stop taking classes or never got round to enrolling in a dance studio. One thing to be careful about that is to start slowly. Make sure your warm before training and stretch a lot after the class. We have videos on correct stretching, how to warm up and down. These are very important, because one will experience muscle pain. So it’s very important to know to stretch. Your ballet teaches will also be more than willing to give you some tips. If you find you are not stretched enough after the class warm-up, you may want to begin stretching at home before class to give yourself better muscle control. Over time, you will experience less fatigue after your body adjusts. I cannot stress enough how important it is to stretch in a correct manner. Please check our series of videos on stretching.
Dance classes
If by chance the dance studio close to you does not have adult specific ballet classes, it is possible you may have to join classes with a younger group of dance students. What is important is that they put you in the right level of class for your specific capabilities. If by chance you are taking classes with a younger group of students try to be careful and pay attention your own limitations. What is important in these cases in to avoid any injury. We also have informational video clips to help you achieve the right posture and placement of the body. If you feel concerned about your limitations and capabilities communicate this with you teacher after class. More often than not your personal opinion for one own level is lower than that of the teacher. It is the responsibility of the dance teacher to make way for an open communicate between your self and the ballet teacher. Remember that your dance teachers are there to help you enjoy your learning journey.
What ever your experience try to make it a lifestyle away of life. The world of dance is wonderful. It has the ability to feed your personal creativity. The dance studio is a warm wonderful safe place to make you person discovery.
